Recent Changes.
First of all, we want to thank you so much for your support of our work in Honduras through your coffee purchases!
When you arrived at the website, you noticed a few changes. The Trujillo Coffee Company page has been replaced with a page called Support Our Ministry. The model that we will be using from now on is donation based. With each donation of $50, we will send you a thank-you gift of either 1lb of coffee or 1 box of coffee pods, your choice. For example, 1lb: $50, 2 lbs: $100, etc. These are available as recurring monthly donations or as one-time gifts. You will also have the option of simply donating to our ministry outside of coffee. You can do so through this link.
Over the past couple of years, our coffee company has not produced what we anticipated it would, and it has caused some unwanted strain on our lives and ministry in Honduras. The only ministry model we have found to be successful after 5 years of mission work and discussing coffee as funding for missions with other missionaries is if the coffee is sold more as a donation than as a traditional business.
We recognize that this change will cause many people to reconsider their support of our ministry; however, this is the only feasible way forward for us at this time.
Since coffee is such a volume game, we do not see ourselves ever reaching the level of any of the big names you see in grocery stores. Because of all of this, as we have stated, we have decided to move to a strictly donation-based model. Alongside this change, we have set up a non-profit corporation called Good News Honduras. Now, all of the donations that you make to support our ministry will be tax-deductible.
We wish we could explain this to each of you in person or on the phone, at least, but I hope you do understand.
